The Tsum Valley Trek is an isolated trekking adventure in the remote and rugged areas of central Nepal. This off–beaten trekking trail offers immense natural beauty and a fascinating cultural experience. The people of the Tsum valley are known as “Tsumbas’’ who belong of Tibetan origin and have their own unique culture.

The trekking trail takes you to pass pine forests, cascading waterfalls, rushing streams, and sacred monasteries. With a fantasy-like setting east of the Manaslu region, This Trek is a journey to an isolated region of cultural majesty.

 

Tsum Valley is least explored trekking destination in Manaslu Region is a cultural gem, where no trekkers before 2008. A beautiful valley ringed by the Himalayan giants Tsum is dotted with sacred highland monasteries. The trek to Tsum Valley begins from Arughat either Sotikhola just as the Manaslu Circuit Trek begins. Half of the way during Tsum Valley Trek traverses through the trails of Manaslu Circuit and deviates at Philim towards the Lower Tsum.

 

March to May and September to December is best time to trek in Tsum Valley and exploring around. However, some people like to trek in Monsoon and winter season as well for special interest like photography, bird watching, wild flowers and volunteering in Mu Gompa and Rechen monastery.

Day 01: Arrival and transfer to Hotel in Kathmandu

Upon arrival in Kathmandu Airport, our airport representative will welcome you and give you short info about Kathmandu and directly drive to the Hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 02: Sightseeing for a full day in Kathmandu Valley.

World heritage sites like Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhu Nath, Boudha Nath, Pasupati Nath, etc. Preparation for the trekking.

 

Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Machhakhola (869m) via Sotikhola (730m)

An early morning breakfast, we will start our journey with along the Prithivi highway west from Capital city of Kathmandu, through an amazing river view cross the trishuli River and join to Dhading Besi. We will stop along on the way for Lunch break. After then we drive continue to passing through the Arughat Bazzar along with scenic drive to following the Budi Gandaki River side to Arkhet and reach to Soti khola overnight at Lodge.

 

Day 04: Trek Machhakhola - Jagat (1310m)

Today will be more an exciting, first we will cross the suspension bridge and our trail leads to Kholabesi, the trekking route has chance to explore the beautiful landscape, waterfalls, and hills. After then again crossing the suspension bridge at kholabesi our trek will be continue to join the natural hot spring at the Tatopani. From the Tatopani village we cross the again bridge and walking through the passing the delightful village of Dovan, thulo Dunga and trek continue to reach Jagat Village overnight at Lodge.

 

Day 05: Trek Jagat – Lokpa (2040m)

Jagat Village has an entry check point of Manaslu and Tsum valley by registering the special permit of Manaslu regions. After finished we checked our permit then we trek continue to climb over a ridge to salleri village. We walk along the river side and cross the Budhi Gandaki River on a long suspension bridge. Also we trek continue to Phlim village, Ekle Bhatti. The trekking trail you will get separated towards to manaslu and tsum valley, where you will see the trekking trail map on the board and hike up to Lokpa. The tsum valley trek is one of the hidden and few trekkers’ goes to hiking in this area.

 

Day 06: Lokpa – Chumling (2385m)

After the breakfast, we start our journey to the wild route to tsum valley region. From the Lokpa to Chumling, if the sky is clear day, the spectacular views of Siring himal, Buddha Himal and Ganesh Himal. And the trail continue to walking on the jungle side, we cross the suspension bridge then, trail leads ascending to reach the Chumling village, this village has ancient Buddhist monastery when we reach on time we can go to explore it and back to room overnight at Lodge.

 

Day 07: Trek to Chumling – Chhekampar (3032m)

Today will be great day because we’ll enter the upper valley part of the inside Himalayas. Our trekking trail continue to along the Syar River down to domje and rises over 500 meters to the biggest village in the Tsum valley. An attractive village of Gho has atypical Monastery. From there we will be continue our ascending and then trek to reach at Chhekampar. If the blue sky on the day you will be able to see the delightful views of Ganesh Himal and Himalchuli from this village where we will have the chances to have the hospitality of local peoples “Tibetan Group” welcoming with typical “Tibetan tea” and local foods. We stay at overnight Lodge.

 

Day 08: Trek to Chhekampar – Nile (3362m)

Today we walk pretty shorter than preceding days. The Nile on the western side of the Shikhar khola it takes about 15minutes to 25 minutes walk and cross from chhule is the last village direction north in the upper valley. As we go up hill, the valley comes lush, narrow, and we will see the popular hard working of farming. After we passing the beautiful lamagaon, there is pire phu cave of Milarepa where will see the his footprint is still potted and noticeable in the rock. Pigeon cave is one of the sacred caves in the Tsum and Valley on the side of a rocky cliff mountain with beautiful views of the valley from the cave and monastery near the village of Burji. There are 2 separate monasteries attached to the stony cave.

 

Day 09: Trek to Nile – Mu Gompa (3700m)

Today we will be short walk from the Nile along the west bank of the valley close to the Tibetan border reach easily to Mu Gompa, this place is highest point of the Tsum valley trekking, we will be hik uo through yak pastures through typical dry and arid trans Himalayas. The Buddhist monery has rows of beautiful chortens with an amazing mountains view from tea houses. The historical Monastery associated with the dawn of Buddhism sprint by Monks, on the lap of the Rocky Mountains is one of the ancient monasteries in the Tsum valley region.

 

Day 10: Trek Mu Gompa - Chumling (2385m)

After we visit to Mu Gompa , then we trek descending to Chumling Village, we passing the delighful village and walking on the pine and rhododendron forests, we reach to chumling, we will stay overnight at Lodge.

 

Day 11: Trek Chumling - Dovan Village (1150m)

After we enjoy the tsum valley, we descending walking on the pine and rhododenron forests, passing the delightful village of Lokpa, Ekle Bhatti, Philim Ghaun, and we cross the suspension bridge, walking on the river side, Salleri Ghau, Jagat village, Thulo Dhunga and reach to Dovan Village, we will stay overnight at Lodge

 

Day 12. Dovan Village - Soti Khola (730m)

An early morning we will have breakfast, then after start our ourney to Soti Khola, we walikng on the river side and cross the suspension bridge, reach to tatopani village, Khorlabesi, Machhikhola and passing the so many small beautiful village and reach to Sotikhola, we will stay overnight at Lodge.

 

Day 13: Drive back to Kathmandu.

After the delicous breakfast, then we drive back to Kathmandu.

 

Day 14: Departure (Farewell)

Today is the end of your Trek to Mardi Himal. You will be dropped at the International airport 3 hours before your flight time by our representative. We hope you had a great time with us. Thank you, and have a safe journey.
